Do you remember the old photo albums that attached your photos to the page with holders that slipped onto the corners of the photograph paper?  Because of this method of securing photos there are a lot of pictures that have torn and discolored corners.  It also resulted in a lot of bent and creased photos because of the bending that was needed to get the paper in and out of the holders.  Fortunately, modern photo restoration procedures can undo the damage that was done to those photos over the years.

The photo above is typical of the condition of an old photo that has been handled a lot and requires  photo restoration.  There is considerable creasing on the edges, and the corners are in very bad shape.  The photograph is torn, discoloured, and it is not very easy to see the finer details.  This is the kind of picture that gets put away, and the memories that were captured in that moment are stuffed into the bottom of a photo box.

The  photo restoration procedure that is needed is to first scan the photo into a computer.  This digital image can then be manually manipulated to erase the damage, and to do a digital image enhancement to restore the details of the image.

There is not excuse for allowing a photo that was so important to remain hidden away because of damage to the paper.  The ability to fix old photos makes it possible to bring the image back to its original condition.  In the hands of a photo restoration specialist there are very few image enhancements that cannot be accomplished.
