Unless photographs are handled carefully they are prone to becoming bent, creased, and even torn.  Unfortunately, many people do not take the long-term care of their photos into account.  They carry them in their wallets or purses, and sometimes even stuff them into their pockets.  Over time this wear and tear becomes very evident.  You photographs reach a point where sending them to a photo repairs specialist is the only option if you want to keep them.
