Over the years photographs can become faded, and many of the details can be lost.  Fortunately, mildly damaged photos like this can be totally restored quickly, and can be done without spending a lot of money.  For mild to moderately damaged photos such as this one, a qualified photo restoration service should be able to give you an accurate estimate of the time and cost of having the photo restored.

When the fading occurs evenly across the entire photo, most of the damage can be repaired by making adjustments to the contrast and colour settings.  After that the specialist can go back over the photo doing some minor touch-ups to make sure that everything appears as it should.  If the damaged photos have some areas that are faded or damaged worse than others, these areas will have to be restored individually.  The repairs will then need to be blended with the original area so the repairs appear natural.

The procedure is accomplished by scanning the original photo, and converting it to a digital image.  All of the repairs are done on the digital copy of the damaged photos, and not on the originals.  At that point, any number of repairs or digital enhancements could be done without any changes to the original photograph.

One the repairs and enhancements are completed you will receive a photo that is ready to be displayed and enjoyed.  If the quality of the original image is good enough, the image can be enlarged for framing.  No one would ever know that it was a repaired version of a damaged photo.
