Damaged Photos

People love to display their photos, but if it is not done properly you can damage the photo.  Unfortunately, even if the area is small, damaged photos are not as appealing as undamaged images.  The place where the tape removed part of the image, or the hole where the thumbtack saw put through, take away from the look of the photo.

The good news is, damaged photos do not need to stay damaged.  There are ways to have your photographs restored to their original condition.  Depending on the level of the damage, the repairs can be quick and relatively inexpensive.

This damaged photo is a great example.  Although the area that was damaged is somewhat large, the amount of detail in the area is minimal.  Overall the photograph is only mildly damaged.  All it will take is to copy the sky color into the damaged part, and then blend the colors to make it seamless.  This procedure is called “cloning.”  It works especially well when there is not a lot of variations in the colour, or there is not much texture to the area being repaired.  More seriously damaged photos will take more effort.

With modern digital technology, there is not good reason not to repair your damaged photos.  You can have a restored photo that you will be able to display properly.  No longer will an area that has been marred keep you from enjoying the memories that were captured in your photographs.  You can make damaged photos a thing of the past.
