How to get your demo disc Noticed?
Jun/090
Hopefully by the end of this short article you will receive a few ideas on how to get your disc noticed by a recording company or contractor.
Imagine your job is to sit behind a desk and sift through and listen to hundreds of demo discs every day! Well someone has to do it. I imagine it would be similar to what a recruitment agency does when they have to go through hundreds of CV’s. In any case you can bet your bottom dollar that some do not even get looked at.
So how can you make your disc jump out and say play me. It’s quite easy it simply has to stand out above the rest and the only way it can do this is for it to appear visually interesting or intriguing.
As a band or an artist you must already possess some artistic or creative imagination but you may be lacking the technology or experience to put that into a finished photo to enhance the front cover of your demo CD.
You don’t have to pay hundreds of pounds to hire a professional photographer (although this would also be a good idea) for with a little imagination and thought you can create a striking photo from your existing collection.
Providing you have some kind of idea and the basic photos to put it together then this is all possible with the aid of photo software and digital manipulation.
All you have to do is scan your photos and send them and your idea to a reputable Photo restoration company. You would be amazed at how a basic photo or shot can be transformed into something eye catching or interesting and that is what you will need to draw the attention towards your CD.
Let’s say your group was called Warzone or something along those lines, then using photo software it is quite possible to remove the background of an existing shot of your band and replace it with a graphic photo from the Second World War, Iraq of Afghanistan. Or if you’re a solo artist then using photo touch up techniques it is possible to turn miss piggy into miss word. I am not suggesting that you will need to, only that the possibility is there.
Using photo restoration and manipulation techniques together with a little imagination can open up unlimited boundary’s to creating a front cover that is going to stand out way above the rest and get you half way there, the rest is down to you.
I hope this has been useful to you and feel free to leave a comment below.
What Are Some Good Photo Ideas For 50Th Wedding Anniversary Gifts?
Jun/090
When you know someone’s 50th wedding anniversary is coming up soon, it is customary to get a gift for them. One of the more thoughtful and unique gift would be a 50th wedding anniversary photo gift. Hopefully this article is going to give you some ideas to help you choose the best photo gift to give.
One: You can do a gift that has a picture of the anniversary couple when they first got married. This will help them remember their special wedding day even more.
Two: A collage of photos from their 50 years together is another good idea. This will allow you to add photos of the couple, special events in their lives, their children and anything else that you know they would consider special from their 50 years together.
Three: If it is your parents that have the 50th wedding anniversary, then you can give a photo of your whole family or of just the kids. This will help them remember their most special moments, having a family.
Four: Being it’s a Golden anniversary, the chances are that their wedding photos are going to be in black and white. A really good idea is to sneak one of these photos away and have it scanned at a high resolution, once you have done this go on line and send it to a reputable photo restoration company and ask for it to be colourised and placed on a scenic background. This background can be anything you desire, a good idea is to have the couple super imposed over their favorite location, for instance where they frequently go on holiday or maybe a photo of the church or place they were married. Once this has been done you can then have writing of your choice put onto the photo.
When you get the photo back it’s simply a matter of popping it onto a memory stick or disc and taking it to your local photo printers. Most photos like this can be printed large enough to mount in a beautiful frame and hang pride of place. Personalised photo gifts such as this are quite unique and show that you have been thoughtful.
What Is The Best Way To Salvage Damaged Photos?
Jun/091
Do you have damaged photos that you need to try and salvage? If you do, then you need to know the best ways to do that. Now, it will depend on the photos that you are trying to save and whether they are digital or not. This will determine the best way to save pictures from further photo damage. This article is going to tell you how to save each type of photo.
First before that happens, you need to know that your quick response is going to be the key to saving your photos, especially if they have been damaged by water. Otherwise, you will have other problems such as, mold and mildew to contend with. Now, on to how to save the different types of photos you may have.
Photographs and negatives – Don’t pull any photos or negatives apart if they are stuck together; instead, you want to soak them in cold water to stop mildew growth as you work on each photo individually. Dry them by hanging them indoors from clothespins or spread them out on a smooth dry surface. Pictures that are 50 years old need to be taken to a professional for electronic restoration.
Computer disks and tapes – Rinse them in cold water, place them in a plastic bag and store them in your refrigerator until you can get them to a professional drying center that will then transfer everything to a new tape or computer disk.
Digital photo restoration – You need to contact individual camera stores that are local to you to find out if they can professionally restore your photos that have been damaged.
These are the best ways to salvage damaged photos. Photo damage is not always permanent, so don’t give up on your photos until you know for sure whether it is restorable or not. Your photos are important to you, so do everything you can to get them back when they have been damaged.
Finally once you have your photo to the best of your ability you may consider having it restored back to its original condition by scanning and sending it to a reputable photo restoration or digital restoration company.
How do I start an online photo restoration business?
Jun/090
Hopefully this article will give you a few tips on starting your own online photo restoration business. First of all I am not an expert in this field but I have just recently opened my own website for photo restoration and had my eyes opened wide along the way.
For the purpose of this article I am going to assume that you posses all the skills and experience in this profession and have the confidence to carry out the many tasks that will eventually come your way. Also I am going to assume that you have no knowledge of SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).
Below I am going to outline a few considerations that you should be aware of before you leap into it.
One. Ensure that you have enough savings to keep you going for a minimum of six months as it will take you that long before you start to receive enough custom for an income. I will explain this in more detail as we go along.
Two. You do not have to be a computer geek but it will help if you have some skills in I.T. and also possess an adequate level of communication and literacy skills.
Three. You will probably have to employ someone to build and maintain your website. This is very important make sure that you choose the right one. There are hundreds of web builders out there so take the time to carry out some research and get quotes from at least three to see who is going to give you the package you desire and commitment you will require. It’s a bit like choosing a pet as they will be with you for a long time.
Okay above are three considerations but here is the main one. I knew that I had all the skills and confidence to start my own business but I was completely naive when it came to websites. I thought (a bit like field of dreams) “if you build it they will come” well they will but it takes time, money and a lot of hard work. You could have the best website in the world but if no one knows how to find it then the only people that are going to see it are friends and family that you have told.
This is where Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) comes in. Before I built my website I had never even heard of this term but now it haunts me each day and will continue to do so for some time. Basically in order to get your site noticed by search engines like Google and so forth you have to load your site with keywords and text etc (search engines do not recognise photos but they love text). I won’t go into too much detail on SEO but suffice to say when my website was first launched it had a few hundred words of text, now it has over 16,000 words of text and it is still growing. I mentioned earlier you will require some money to keep you going as SEO does not work over night. I am told frequently by my website SEO team that you have to be patient it will take months for your site to grow and become popular (but remember time is money).
I hope after reading this article I haven’t deterred you, that is not my intension I merely want to prepare you in order that you do not make the same mistakes that I made. This article can be applied to anyone wishing to launch a website or start a small online business. I have used Photo Restoration as that is my field, Good luck and I sincerely wish you all the best.
I hope this has been useful to you and feel free to leave a comment below.
